Have a good day!
I need to know!!
this is probably one of the easiest homework questions ever…. if you dont know that…..you might as well drop out now…. FIGURE IT OUT YOURSELF!
I hear this all the time but never heard it in any church. Our church doesn’t teach that.what congregation does.Is this a Atheist lie?
what fundementalist church,i have yet to see it,i would like to know.
there is no creationist who profess this.as far as jews go.they may so why cram everyone into a belief nobody on here can show.
It’s the age of the world according to the Jewish calendar.
People who accept the Creation story and the Old Testament generally also accept that the world is 5,770 years old.
Also, from a ‘Christian’ website, "Answers in Genesis."
"Many scientists and theologians accept a straightforward reading of Scripture and agree that the earth is about 6,000 years old. It is better to use the infallible Word of God for our scientific assumptions than to change His Word in order to compromise with “science” that is based upon man’s fallible assumptions. True science will always support God’s Word."
Answers in Genesis identifies themselves as "an apologetics (i.e., Christianity-defending) ministry, dedicated to enabling Christians to defend their faith and to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ effectively. We focus particularly on providing answers to questions surrounding the book of Genesis, as it is the most-attacked book of the Bible. We also desire to train others to develop a biblical worldview, and seek to expose the bankruptcy of evolutionary ideas, and its bedfellow, a “millions of years old” earth (and even older universe)."
Are they following the same ’science’ that tells them that there is no global warming?
….because repubes/Cons be stupid???
Do I win anything?
year old earth.
and why do you think you know the age of earth.
This question is just to stupid to grace with an answer.
I was scanning the stations on my car radio and ran across some religious talk show and they were supporting the idea everything was only six thousand years old. I just want to know what branch of religion this is and avoid it. Insanity, pure and simple.
I cant even begin to wrap my brain around how you can find anything in the bible to support such a stupid idea. Even if you actually believe that for seven days god created seven different things and counted after that, how far back does b.c. go? And why did it take a whole week to create everything? Did god have to think about what he wanted to create? For all these nuts think a day could mean a million years.
I am only asking why this particular group believes such a stupid thing.
Any fundamentalist or orthodox Judeo-Christian religion, including Islam.
To be fair, Kabbalistic Jews account for the seven days theory in saying that time was different without human perception and that thousands of years were as a day during creation times… but most of the groups I had mentioned do not bother to find a compromise with scientific reality.
when we can see the light of stars which has taken millions of years to reach us?
5 points for the most convoluted and ridiculous explanation taken from the bible
or
10 bonus points for any muslim using the most creative and the most humorous explanation from the koran .
The Bible nowhere addresses the age of the Earth. Period.
How do you explain the continental drift? The fact that the continents fits like a jigs saw puzzle, then drifted away over millions of years. Beside the obvious. The EVIDENCE that satellites in outer space show us that the continents move away about the speed of two to four inches pre year. Creationist? How do you explain this? Bible, or God? I’m just curious see the answers.
The Earth is not 6000 years old. Age is 4.5 Billion Years minimum.
To Dr. Bob – No your explanation is completely and utterly impossible, not just implausible. We see the plates on seismic as they subduct into the zone of partial melting. We know with great accuracy the rate of continental separation, or plate movement rates. Below about 1000 feet of the crust (which is 60+km thick, water is saline to hypersaline, not fresh water! If this was the water of the flood then the Earth would have been covered in salt water and salt, thereby killing everything alive and no ability to grow anything after the "Flood".
I am sorry…but there was no Flood just as the Earth is not flat! There probably was a "great flood" since it is also written about by the Sumerians, but it is easier to explain the Flood as a regional event where the "world" was a very small place, with a very flat terrain!
God does not need me or you to apologize for His magnificence and His means. I would look to a less literal Biblical interpretation. The Bible also says that we are made in His image and likeness. I hope He doesn’t look like me…maybe Tom Cruise or maybe Clint Eastwood…I know He can’t look like all of us. (an example of literalism gone amok)
How can these trains get past each other?
they’re on different rails?
When a native speaker say ‘between four hundred and six hundred thousand dollars’ in spoken English, does he mean ‘between 400 and 600,000′ or ‘between 400,000 and 600,000′?
I am a transcriptionist. I’ll write that as 400 to $600,000. Transcriptionists don’t assume. We only transcribe what is being said regardless of possibilities of what the speaker might mean. Since the 400 has no dollar spoken after it, transcriptionists don’t put the sign nor assume that it is 400,000. Ergo, 400 to $600,000.
