Insomnia Facts

Symptoms of insomnia include difficulty falling asleep, waking up during the night and having a tough time getting back to sleep. It also represents itself as waking up too early in the morning or waking up tired and fatigued.
There are two types of insomnia, primary insomnia and secondary insomnia. Primary insomnia is insomnia that is not health related. Secondary insomnia is caused by other health conditions such as asthma, arthritis, heartburn or pain. Secondary insomnia can also be caused by medications or the consumption of alcohol.
There are also two types based on how long it lasts. Acute insomnia last for just a short period of time while chronic insomnia goes on a longer time.
