Snowboarding in Cervinia, Italy
Have to know: This location is over the Italian side from the Matterhorn (or Cervino, in Italian). The high, sunny, snow-sure pistes are laid out over a valley head – broad runs which all head back down to the village. The region links up with the pistes of Zermatt at the top, making a massive 350km of runs.
Good for: Satisfying Italian food which will likely not break the bank at the mountain restaurants in attractive chalets (try the Chalet Etoile), and also lots of great pizza joints, as well as several goodies like the Baita Cretaz restaurant – only accessible by skidoo once the lifts are shut down.
Definite plus: Runs all remain wide, comfortable plus steady right to the bottom. And the town is compact sufficient to be able to allow older children go looking at the stores independently.
